Building A Better Blog (Day 2)

As part of my drive to improve readership of this blog I am using Problogger's 31 Days to Building a Better Blog. Day involves someone reading my blog but as I have no one able to do that yet I went onto Day 3: Search for and Join Forums on Your Blog’s Topic. I joined the Bloggeries Blog Forum which seemed quite intimate and non-threatening and responded to a few posts. I aim to post on the forum once a day to build a relationship with the people there.

There was some advice from the moderator which went a long the lines of not doing any major promotion till the blog has at least 5-10 posts. I suppose it makes sense. I will keeping an eye on the forum then posting about blog in two weeks. I'm going to spend the rest of today making sure this blog and http://www.portablelives.net/ is looking and feeling like I want it. Playing with plugins and learning my way around blogger.

Hey Ed,

I think what you're doing is very ambitious and great. I look forward to following you on all your blogging adventures and offering support and learning from some of the stuff you find.

As a relatively new blogger myself, I'm still searching for information on feeds and pings and forums and all that good stuff. So I'll definitely share whatever I learn with you.

One great tip I learned though which I think might be helpful to you, has to do with HTML codes. I noticed you have a lot of links in your posts and when I click on one, it takes me away from your blog and to another site. Readers might get so caught up in the other site's material that they may forget about your blog and not come back to it. Therefore I learned how to make the link 'pop up' in another window, rather than taking it away from your own blog.

Unfortunately this comment box doesn't let me post HTML code for some reason. If you want though, you can email me at:

smokers.corner@hotmail.com

and I'll gladly give it to you.

Anything I can do to help.

Cheers,
Skins

Thanks Skins,
thanks for the enthusiasm, my wife thinks I'm mad. I hope that we learn a lot from each other. I'm pretty new to blogging - as my first blog www.constructyourself.co.uk is only a few months old. I have still so much to learn especially about moneterisation and SEO.
Thanks for the tip about the links I will email you or google it.
Thanks again Ed.
